More than 300 years ago, Jean-Baptiste Bousquet, a ceramist
from the Provence, arrived in the little village of Locmaria on the banks
of the Odet river, to set up a pottery workshop. Ever since this time, the town of Quimper and faience have never been separated.
They regularly come together to mark important cultural events.
And so, it was in 1990 when Quimper celebrated , in advance, the tercentenary of its faiences.
In 2002, when major works were being carried out on the banks of the river Steïr, « bores »
were made out of the scaps of concrete and then decorated by the HB-Henriot artists and sold to raise funds for the French Association Telethon which supports research programs and services for people with neuromuscular diseases.
In 2003, to celebrate the centenary of Paul Gaugin’s death,
the Faiencerie created a decoration called « Gauguin en Cornouaille ».
Lastly, the town of Quimper has added HB-Henriot to its logo,
using the Faiencerie’s particular flower design.
